Classes for Everyone
Pilates mat classes are valuable, fun and enjoyable but the use of specialised equipment offers new dimensions and raises exercise to a completely different and beneficial level.
At The Pilates Suite you can choose to work privately or in small groups using our wonderful and modern state-of-the-art equipment – The Reformer, Cadillac, Wunda Chair, Orbit, Springboard & Bodhi Suspension system. Even when working in a small group of no more than three people, each individual’s programme will be designed and run specifically for them.
This equipment has been carefully developed and fine-tuned over several years to offer users a highly sophisticated range of spring-assisted exercises that enable more precise movement allowing the faster progression of improvements to the body.
Our Pilates equipment provides a fantastic combination of support and resistance enabling clients to focus on and develop individual muscle groups and improve their core strength. You will also find that using our Pilates equipment enables you to undertake successfully a greater range of exercises that help build up your fitness faster.
Take a closer look at how our specialised Pilates equipment works and can help you to achieve your personal goals.
The Cadillac is an amazing and flexible piece of equipment that offers something for people of all ages and abilities. It was originally devised by Joseph Pilates to help rehabilitate bedridden patients and its exercises range from gentle spring-assisted sit-ups to advanced acrobatics that involve hanging from the upper bars.
The Cadillac can help you to build your core abdominal muscles, develops the flexibility of your spine, works your shoulder girdle and strengthens your back.
One of its greatest benefits is the ability to stretch your whole body. Many of our clients say their stretching exercises are among their favourites, leaving them completely relaxed and refreshed.
You can find out a bit more about the Cadillac in our blog post.
The Wunda Chair
The Wunda Chair is just that – an amazing wonder! Many of the Pilates exercises are performed seated on top of the chair while pressing down on a bar with your feet; others are performed laying on the floor, standing straight up or lunging forward.
The Wunda Chair comes into its own for activating the lower back, buttocks, shoulders, transverse abdominals and pelvic region, and develops neuromuscular coordination. It offers some interesting and entertaining challenges, too, as well as a great workout. For, example, you can raise your entire body off the floor using just your stomach muscles – that’s definitely worth a try!!
Compared to our other Pilates equipment, the Orbit is relatively new to the world of Pilates and challenges the body in multiple planes. With the Orbit, you will improve your balance and mobility and increase your whole body strength.
It’s also really great fun to use.
The Bodhi Suspension System
The Bodhi Suspension System is an exciting and challenging piece of equipment, made up of two independent roles to create four suspension points in a unique system. Suitable for all clients, it strengthens and stabilises your core and can work every part of the body. The more of you that’s suspended, the more it will challenge your balance and in doing so, it places importance on the correct technique needed for each move. From assisted floor lunges, side planks with both feet suspended and to a fully-suspended set of chest presses, the Bodhi Suspension System improves all-body strength, balance and flexibility and can also assist with targeted rehabilitation – plus it’s a lot of fun!
BarreConcept is growing in popularity across the globe and has a notable high profile celebrity following including the likes of Madonna, Denise Richards, Natalie Portman and Mick Jagger.
